What is ChildReach Africa Ministries?

Founded by Catherine Piwang, whose journey began when she noticed children living in squalid conditions just outside the gates of a wealthy school, deprived of an education they could see but not access. Deeply moved, she later learned of the war in Northern Uganda and visited a displacement camp—an experience that shook her to her core, leaving her in tears for three days. That profound heartbreak became the unshakable foundation of her mission to bring hope, dignity, and opportunity to the children who needed it most.

Education

Education is a key in rebuilding and construction and so she established a Preschool for young ones and a vocational institute for Girls with a 2 year fashion and design course. Then after Preschool, no Primary school was found so a primary school was founded for the preschoolers who finished and had nowhere to go.

Healthcare

Recognizing that a child cannot learn when they are fighting for their health, CRA established an on-site infirmary to provide immediate, life-saving care for common but dangerous illnesses like malaria—which can strike suddenly and cause severe convulsions—as well as typhoid and a range of infections. Now, children receive prompt diagnosis and treatment right at school, eliminating dangerous delays, easing the burden on families, and giving every child a fighting chance to stay healthy, stay in class, and thrive.

Community Development

Beyond the classroom, CRA is transforming the entire community through sustainable initiatives that tackle poverty at its roots. We provide clean, safe water access, solar-powered charging stations for phones and lamps so children can study after dark, and computer literacy classes to equip adults and youth with vital digital skills. Most importantly, we've empowered local parents to form a savings and agricultural cooperative, where families learn modern farming techniques, boost their crop yields, secure food for their homes, and generate steady income—all while strengthening the bonds of their villages. Together, we're not just educating children; we're uplifting communities from the ground up.

Future Plans:

A secondary school for our students who will be completing Primary in the next two years (2028). There is no accessible secondary school therefore more often after Primary 7, most students would stop studying altogether.

Add more courses to the Mary and Martha Institute like Agriculture, Carpentry, Welding etc.

Construction of a new Complete Block; comprised of new classrooms and workshop rooms.

Expanding and upgrading the infirmary to a Health Centre Clinic

Construction of a Youth Centre; with facilities for recreation, Sports, social gatherings and outreach ministry. The center would serve to deliver the Gospel of Jesus Christ to young people within the surrounding area who may not be enrolled in the school.
